A place where ambition meets opportunity and passion meets professionalism. At LIHS, we are dedicated to nurturing young women into confident, skilled, and professional leaders in the Hospitality and Tourism industry
Our approach is holistic: students receive academic, personal, and spiritual formation in a nurturing residential environment. Alongside academic excellence, they gain hands-on training in real-life hospitality settings, ensuring they graduate with both technical competence and the values of discipline, courtesy, and professionalism—qualities that make them thrive nationally and internationally.
At LIHS, we believe education goes beyond classrooms. With a blend of personalized training, strong ethical values, and exposure to real industry practices, our students are prepared to meet the challenges of today’s dynamic hospitality sector.

LIHS is a project of the Nigerian Association for Women’s Advancement (NAWA), a registered non-profit, non-governmental educational and social welfare Trust. NAWA is committed to the advancement of women and girls in Nigeria, with a strong focus on education, skills development, and empowerment. Through LIHS, NAWA provides young women with an avenue to receive professional training that blends academic excellence with personal growth, preparing them to thrive in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
To provide all-round personalized education through practical workshops in a real-life hospitality setting, enabling students to emerge with professional training, enhanced personality, and the ability to meet industry standards.
To deliver a well-grounded and vastly experienced female workforce for the Hospitality industry, riding on a tradition of academic, professional and ethical excellence.
The Lagoon Institute of Hospitality Studies (LIHS) was established in November 2015 as a specialized tertiary institution focused on equipping young women with the skills, knowledge, and values required for successful careers in Hospitality and Tourism.
Since its inception, LIHS has steadily grown into a reputable institution, combining academic learning with practical workshops in real-life hospitality settings. Over the past decade, the Institute has graduated over 100 young women, many of whom have gone on to contribute meaningfully to the Hospitality and Tourism sector both within Nigeria and abroad.
The programme at LIHS leads to the award of two certifications: A hospitality Certificate and a Level 2 National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, recognized both nationally and internationally. The NSQ is a competency-based qualification that certifies a student’s practical skills and knowledge in a specific trade or profession. It is widely respected in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, ensuring that graduates are job-ready and can confidently meet the expectations of employers both in Nigeria and abroad. By earning an NSQ certificate, students gain formal recognition of their expertise, opening doors to career opportunities, further education, and professional growth.
At LIHS, learning is deeply rooted in experience. Through a dynamic blend of theory and hands-on practice, students develop a versatile skill set tailored to the demands of the hospitality and tourism industry. They gain a holistic understanding of hospitality, grounded in technical expertise, professional conduct, and a service-oriented mindset.
This real-world approach is reinforced through daily exposure to live operations. As the official caterer for Lagoon School, LIHS manages meals for staff, students, and guests—giving students direct access to professional kitchen facilities, storage units, and a large cafeteria.
LIHS is more than a school- it’s a launchpad for young women to thrive, lead, and transform the hospitality industry in Nigeria and beyond.
LIHS offers a fully residential experience, fostering academic, personal, and spiritual growth.
